The wind in your face, the adrenaline pumping through your body and the feel of power in your muscles. It is all enough to clear your mind and refresh your body. Mumbai is a great place to go cycling. It has numerous cycling tracks that cut through the most scenic views of Mumbai. Most of these tracks lie through the old town, giving you a chance to sightsee and bike at the same time. Also, the flora and fauna around here are simply spectacular, giving you a chance to connect with nature.
- Bandra to Churchgate (15.71 km)
Bandra is a beautiful city which takes you through beautiful boulevards and a wonderful view of the beach and Bandra Lake. This place stretches vastly over the west of Mumbai with finishing at Nariman Point. The track takes you swerving through temples and parks giving your trip an adventurous twist. This is one of the most awesome cycling track in Mumbai.
2. The Portuguese Fishing Village (52 km Circuit)
This village located in Versova, Gorai is the whole package for the cycling adventure. The track is dotted with fishing villages and mangroveswhich make it all the more picturesque. Timeworn churches and cottages flank the site giving it a rustic feel. Take your ride up the hill to Uttan Chowk for a breathtaking view. Wonderfully so, this will be an experience you will never forget! Before riding back, you can even take a break and rest yourself on the tranquil beachside.
3. Path to Kharghar Hills (40 km circuit)
This trip goes up from Palm Beach road to the legendary Kharghar Hills. These hills are the dream destination for a drive, but a bike ride up there is plain euphoric. The Palm Beach road is just as scenic. Leading up from Vashi, it is flanked by marshlands on both sides drawing a wide range of spectacular fauna including beautiful wetland birds. The Tajola Creek on the way only adds to the spectacular ride. If you are riding during the monsoon season, you will be more in luck as waterfalls are quite common then.
4. Trailing through Murud (100 km circuit)
This is an spectacular cycling track in Mumbai. If you are not up for a two-day ride, you can cut it short as well. This track takes you along the beautiful coastal areas of Mumbai. If you start from the Gateway to India, you can hitch a ferry ride to Mandwa. The road from Mandwa to Murud is spectacular beyond doubt. Scenic views, authentic eateries and what not flanks the sides and near the coast. You will find yourself having little adventures all the way!
5. Marine Drive to Bombay fort area (15 km circuit)
The trail goes along from CST to Sasoon Dock, Bombay Panjrapole, Marine Drive, Mumbadevi Temple and Crawford Market. There are no words to describe the beauty that the Marine Drive encompasses. This 3.5-kilometre long boulevard is a solid concrete road along the beautiful bay of Bombay. It goes on to a promenade that is lined with meticulously planted palm trees.
6. Borivali National Park
Now known as the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, this 104-kilometre square sanctuary is a frequent visiting spot for trekkers and bikers all over India. The sheer beauty and serenity of this place just call out to destination travellers every season. The sanctuary also encompasses 2400-year-old Kanheri caves which stand out from the rock cliffs. Two breathtaking lakes, The Vihar and Tulsi Lakes provide additional touristic attraction here. The many walking trails attract crowds in the mornings and evenings for a lovely breath of fresh air. Boating and other facilities are available too.
7. Aarey milk colony to Goregaon East
The Aarey Milk Colony, situated in Goregaon East is a pleasant suburban area. Spread over 4000 acres, this place is the definition of meticulous suburban living. Beautiful roads surrounded by boulevards crisscross through the town making it an ideal cycling spot. The town’s Chota Kashmir, lake and gardens make admirable picnic spots in this town.
8. Ride to Yeoor Hills, Thane
Every biker’s dream is a dream getaway to a place where the roads are infinite and breathtaking to a fault. A sensational combination of semi hill station and rain forest, the track up through Yeoor Hills is simply euphoric. Wonderful waterfalls, streams and lakes await you throughout the circuit making the ride all the more magical.
9. Mangrove Circuit
The mangrove circuit is a phenomenal road of exciting adventures in its path. Along the bank of Ulhas, this circuit progresses along the coastal edge separating Mumbai Island from the city. The circuit headways through Uttan and goes on to Gorai. There, you can awe at the wonder that is The Stupa – The world’s largest pillar-less stone dome. At the end of Gorai, you will get a glimpse of the Manori beach in all its magnificence. From here, a ferry ride to Madh Island will take you through a parody of paradise.
10. Ride to Banganga Tank and Priyadarshini Park – Malabar Hill, Walkeshwar
The Banganga Tank is located on the far west corner of the Black Bay. It sits on the highest point of the island, overlooking the seashore. The village is of immense historical importance and the circuit practically takes you back through time. Large temples flank the sides of the Tank, speaking of India’s rich heritage. The Ride up the mesmerising Malabar Hills will take you to its Hanging Gardens, a picturesque valley of beautiful hedges and sunset views. The entire circuit is around 70 Kilometres of sheer euphoria.
