Chyawanprash isn’t a new product to us Indians though Patanjali Chyawanprash might be. Most of us were probably forced to have it during our childhood. That ugly sweet-and-sour taste we were forced to push down our throats. That was our perception as kids anyway. We’re sure now most of us see why it was so.

Patanjali products have taken the Indian market by storm with its all natural products. It’s no surprise that Patanjali grew to success given its products’ price and quality in par with the prices.

Patanjali Chyawanprash is being widely consumed by all types of people across the country.

But is it any good? Is it worth the extra buck in diet supplements? Does it actually work?

Before we get to the review itself, we will shed some light onto the popular Indian dietary supplements, its origin, ingredients and the benefits.

Chyawanprash is an ancient dietary supplement prepared as per instructions in ayurvedic texts. The formula (or should we say recipe) was given in the Charaka Sangita that dates back to the early first millennium BCE.

Consumer Reviews about Patanjali Chyawanprash:

We have taken down the most common points across various platforms such as YouTube, Amazon online store reviews and various other product reviewing pages.

  • The most talked about issue is the sugar level. Patanjali Chyawanprash contains as much as 67% sugar which is definitely a huge deal breaker. There is nearly 6.7-7 gm of sugar per 10 gm of Chyawanprash. This is way too high for the composition of Chyawanprash. (All platforms)
  • Frequent complaints about stomach pain upon consumption. Although these individuals may have overdosed their daily intake, it’s a point to keep in mind.
  • A large number of people have reported betterment in their seasonal conditions such as cold, fever etc. A few have reported worsening of their conditions.
  • People preferred the thickness of Patanjali’s Chyawanprash since it is comparatively low in water content as opposed to other brands.
  • It has a much spicier taste and grainy textured feel as compared to other major brands.
  • Has a high carb and fat content. This maybe a slight deal breaker, but if you aren’t filling your daily carb and fat requirements this is a much-needed supplement.

Patanjali Chyawanprash vs dabur Chyawanprash
Patanjali Chyawanprash vs Dabur Chyawanprash

  1. The best form to take Chyawanprash is organic due to the high bio-nutrient values. The ingredient count is well over 45. To add all the natural ingredients would make it pretty expensive. But in India, we get 1 kg container at around ₹300.
  2. Speaking from a commercial point of view, it’s not feasible to add all natural ingredients and still make a profit in a market like that of India’s. It is highly unlikely to have an all natural product that is feasible.
  3. Although from the available products, Dabur and Patanjali seem to sit atop the market.
  4. Between the two, Dabur seems to have the edge on customer reviews. Though Patanjali boasts quality, unhealthy amounts of sugar have been reported in Patanjali’s product. This, unsurprisingly, is a huge deal breaker.
  5. But, don’t take our word for it. It’s best to do your own research and try out for yourself.
