Boil and mash raw bananas. Add some sendha namak, chilli powder and chaat masala. Deep fry them. Additionally, you can also bake them for a healthier alternative. Season with salt and spices. A tasty vrat snack is ready.

  • Lauki ka halwa

Shred and parboil the lauki(bottle gourd). Heat some ghee in a pan. Add the lauki and stir till it’s completely cooked. Add sugar (you can use jaggery for a healthier option) and cook till the sugar melts. When the halwa thickens, it is done and ready to serve.

  • Fruit chaat

  • Do not fill your stomach with fried snacks. The vrat platter has some interesting and delicious fried snacks. Don’t go overboard with them.
  • You can instead roast, boil or bake the meal. This will help you balance the aftermath of fried snacks you might eat.
  • Kuttu flour is a combination of proteins and carbs. Including kuttu flour in your meal during this time is a great idea.
  • When you feel like eating fried snacks specially made for fasts, control yourself and gobble up some fresh fruits or roasted nuts as your mid-day snacks.
  • Eat in small quantities but do not starve yourself.
  • Have foods brimming with micronutrients, phytochemicals (disease fighting foods) and antioxidants.
  • Include alternate foods for some variety.
  • Make sure all of your food is cooked healthily to ensure nutrition.
  • Break your fast with fluids such as vegetable juice, fruit juice, milk, coconut water etc.
  • Make sure you plan a major meal that includes alternate grains. Cook this in minimal oil, and try to have it before sunset.
  • If you feel all this food will make you heavy, you can cut down the intake. Replace ?rd of your platter with fruit chaat. This will make you feel light. It’ll deliver the required nutrients to your body. It does not let you feel weak at the same time.
